Adrenal cocktails are a unique beverage that many people have not heard of. As the name suggests, it’s a mixed drink (non-alcoholic) meant to support your adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are what produce the hormones in your body. Because of the lifestyles we live, we often are experiencing a higher-than-healthy amount of stress hormones in our bodies. Stress hormones are produced in response to any and all kinds of stress! Unbalanced blood sugar, job stress, and even physical stress like a long run. Stress hormones use up the body’s mineral stores. An adrenal cocktail contains potassium, sodium, and vitamin C, all of which are vital to the function of the adrenal glands. An adrenal cocktail can be a huge help in supporting the body’s hormones. An adrenal cocktail can help remineralize your body.
You can buy an adrenal cocktail in powder form, but you can easily make it at home!
I try to have an adrenal cocktail every day! They are so easy to make and can be made with a wide variety of ingredients. The essentials of an adrenal cocktail are vitamin C, potassium, and sodium. This gives a LOT of freedom in mixing delicious beverages! You can use almost any kind of juice (as long as it’s rich in vitamin C), including lemon, and lime. Coconut water is rich in potassium as well as cream of tartar. And of course, salt is used for sodium.
Because the purpose of an adrenal cocktail is to replenish minerals, many people add magnesium or other minerals.
Up to 50% of Americans are magnesium deficient.
Adding trace minerals into your cocktail is also an excellent way to add in some minerals you may not be getting elsewhere. Because the soil has been largely stripped of minerals, I’m a huge fan of supplementing with trace minerals, as our foods are just lower in minerals than they were 100 years ago due to harmful farming practices. Here’s my favorite brand of trace minerals.
To boost this cocktail’s immune-system-building properties, I like to add elderberry syrup. Elderberries are known for building the immune system. You can buy elderberry syrup online or in a drug store, BUT elderberry syrup is surprisingly easy to make! See my post here for how! AND elderberries grow wild all over the U.S. and are relatively easy to forage.
My favorite immune-boosting Elderberry Adrenal Cocktail recipe:

Ingredients:

½ cup of orange juice
½ cup of coconut water
A pinch of Redmond Real Salt
1 tablespoon elderberry syrup. You can make elderberry syrup pretty easily. Visit my post here to see how. OR you can purchase it online or in a health food store.
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together in a glass and stir, or put in a shaker with ice and shake.

Other optional add-ins:
Sparkling water
This cocktail is not only delicious but it’s also PACKED full of vitamins and minerals to support your adrenal glands and your immune system! Do you drink adrenal cocktails? What do you add to yours? Let me know in the comments!
